Medical Jargon Decoder

What Is the Medical Jargon Decoder?

Medical reports, diagnostic evaluations, and therapy assessments are filled with specialized terminology that can feel like a foreign language. When you receive your child's neuropsychological evaluation, developmental assessment, or medical report, understanding what it says is the first step toward knowing how to help. KeyAide's free Medical Jargon Decoder translates complex medical language into clear, plain-language explanations — and generates questions you can ask your child's provider.

Who Is This For?

Parents and caregivers who have received medical documents, diagnostic reports, or therapy evaluations and want to understand what they mean. This tool is especially helpful after receiving an autism diagnosis, ADHD evaluation, neuropsychological assessment, occupational therapy evaluation, or speech-language pathology report.

Common Use Cases

• Understanding a neuropsychological evaluation or developmental assessment report
• Decoding diagnosis codes (like DSM-5 classifications) and what they mean for your child
• Translating occupational therapy or speech therapy evaluation findings
• Making sense of standardized test scores and percentile rankings in evaluations
• Preparing informed questions for follow-up appointments after receiving a report

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of medical documents can I decode?

You can paste text from any medical document — evaluation reports, therapy assessments, discharge summaries, lab results explanations, or medication information sheets. The tool works with any medical or clinical language and provides context-appropriate explanations.

Is this the same as getting a second medical opinion?

No. This tool helps you understand the language used in your child's medical documents. It does not evaluate whether a diagnosis is correct, recommend treatments, or provide medical advice. Always discuss medical concerns with your healthcare provider.

What do the "red flags" in the results mean?

Red flags highlight areas in the medical text that may warrant further discussion with your provider — such as recommendations that require timely follow-up, terms that could be interpreted multiple ways, or findings that might affect your child's school accommodations.

Is the medical text I paste in stored or shared?

This tool does not save what you paste. The text is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic's Claude via Google Cloud Vertex AI) to produce the plain-language version, and only the size of the request is logged, never its content. It becomes part of your KeyAide history only if you choose Continue in Chat. It is never sold or used to train AI models.
